The CPABC Victoria/SVI Chapter hosted their annual fundraising dinner and silent auction on February 22, 2018 at the iconic Don Mee Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Victoria’s historic Chinatown district.
Over a 140 CPABC members and their guests were present among friends and colleagues to enjoy a festive banquet, bid on some amazing silent auction items, and to celebrate the start of “The Year of the Dog.”
Proceeds from the dinner and auction will be donated to the Camosun College Foundation and directed to the CPA Award Endowment Fund which has been supporting accounting students since 2008. This year, three students received awards: Robin Stone, Steve Cowie and Cathy McIntyre.
In addition to these awards, the CPA Education Foundation also funds three $1000 awards for Camosun accounting students with high academic standing who have the intent to become CPAs. Two recent recipients, Carolyn Irwin and Alexandra Jamieson, attended the dinner and are pictured below. Both Carolyn and Alexandra are now in the CPA program.
Cindy Choi FCPA FCGA, a Camosun College board member, served as the evening’s emcee. Cindy was assisted by her daughter and many individuals from the chapter, including: Aureleo Reyes CPA CMA, CPABC Victoria/SVI Chapter chair, who supported volunteers in gathering prizes and selling raffle tickets; Robert Katzer CPA CGA, Shane Sexton CPA CMA, Karen Shew CPA CGA, Ellen Slanina CPA CGA and Matt Logan CPA CGA who handled the payment processing table, all of whom contributed to this long standing event’s success.
A big thank you to all Chapter board members who volunteered their time. “Gong hay fat choy” and best wishes for a prosperous “Year of the Dog.”
The Chapter also thanks the following organizations for their donation of silent auction items:
