From billion dollar garage startups like Microsoft, to tech unicorns like Uber, investors globally are swarmed with new companies everyday hoping to be the next industry mover. Then, amidst all the hype is a lesser-known breed known as search funds.
Don’t know what a search fund is? Don’t panic. Come join us on May 2, 2018, where the prestigious Professor Jan Simon will explain all the technical aspects of a search fund, and how it has delivered high performances against other alternative asset classes in Canada and the rest of the world.
Prof. Simon earned his MBA from IESE and his LLM from the Katholieke Universiteit of Leuven, Belgium. He also holds a postgraduate degree in investment advice from EHSAL Brussels, Belgium, and his Ph.D. from the University of Essex, U.K. He currently teaches at IESE’s MBA and executive programs, and is also a professor at SFU.
Before joining academe, Prof. Simon worked as executive director for Goldman Sachs, helping to set up the pan-European sales trading desk in London. Prior to that, he was vice-president and co-head of Salomon Brother’s emerging markets trading desk in London.
This is a great opportunity for investors to gain some insight on a niche asset class to invest in, as well as entrepreneurs who are interested in a new way of raising funds for private equity investments through search funds.
