An international company in the consumer products category attempted to implement an ERP system globally.  They spent $125 million and four years developing the software.  Not to mention all the employee hours spent on testing and training.  After an attempt to rollout the selected ERP to one particular region, they realized that the ERP and all its functionality was not performing adequately and didn’t meet their needs.  It was a complete misalignment between the selected ERP and their business processes!  The company kept the ERP in that region since it was already rolled-out and decided not to cause more disruption to operations by rolling-back, but decided to stop all other roll-outs.  Guess there isn’t one magic ERP system that fits all industries.  Who would have guessed?
