Update: Financial Literacy Event in Nanaimo


On June 8, 2016, approximately 50 Members came out to the Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo to learn about the Financial Literacy program, “Train-the Trainer” session over lunch.

Opening remarks were made by Chapter volunteer, Janice McAllan CPA, CGA, inviting members to participate in the financial literacy program as well as the chapter board.

The seminar was presented by Cairine Wilson (Vice President, Corporate Citizenship of CPA Canada) and Li Zhang (Program Manager, Financial Literacy at CPA Canada) who provided the members with an overview of the different sessions offered to the public (i.e. Adult Program, New Canadians Program, How to Teach Your Kids About Money etc.) and the tools and materials that are made available to the trainers. David Chiang CPA, CA (Vice President, Member Services of CPABC) was also in attendance.

The speakers also spoke about the importance of volunteering, how it strengthens a community, and the opportunity to give back!
