Over 50 CPA members and their guests attended the CPABC TriCities/Ridge Meadows Chapter’s community outreach event which was held in the dining room of Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody on March 1, 2018.
This event was co-hosted by the Chapter, CPABC and Eagle Ridge Hospital Foundation (ERHF). The evening featured presentations coupled with a mini-silent auction which raised funds for the foundation.
Chapter chair Willa Choy CPA CMA gave opening remarks and emceed the proceedings. She welcomed guests and encouraged members to get involved with the local Chapter and community organizations.
Willa introduced the evening’s presenters starting first with Dr. Michael Mostrenko, a medical doctor with Fraser Health Authority and ERHF board member, who spoke about the valued services provided by ERH. Dr. Mostrenko outlined the pressing need to expand the hospital’s current facilities and shared plans to redesign the hospital’s layout to create more efficient work and patient spaces.
Mike was followed by Sharon Perry CPA CA a local member who operates a public practice firm in the TriCities area. Sharon shared her personal experience when her father, Bruce Kehler, was at the hospital for treatment. She felt that the medical care he received was amazing. After her father passed away over a year ago, Sharon and her family pledged $1 million to the capital campaign. The redesigned facility will feature an expanded cardiac department which will be named Bruce Kehler Cardiology. This pledge remains the largest donation ever received by ERHF.
In addition to learning about the hospital’s expansion plans, the evening provided an opportunity to network with other members and to help raise funds for ERHF through a mini-silent auction and donation collection. There was also a call out to support ERHF’s Wheel to Heal bike ride in May – which you can support with a financial pledge or by volunteering time to serve as a race marshal.
The Chapter thanks members for attending this community engagement event in support of ERHF, donating a variety of special prizes, purchasing items at the silent auction and making charitable donations which raised a total of $1,500.
