Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) celebrated the creation of the David Sale Endowed Memorial Fund with a presentation ceremony on January 28, 2019 at the Cedar Building located on the KPU Surrey Campus.
Over 20 KPU faculty members joined the Sale family, CPABC representatives David Chiang CPA CA, CPABC ‘s vice-president member services and Simone Leonard CPA CGA, vice-president education and professional development, and representatives from the local CPABC Surrey/Langley/N.Delta Chapter Kathy Rogers CPA CMA Chapter Chair and Carl Markwart CPA CGA Chapter vice-chair, to remember David Sale and to receive the chapter’s initial donation.
Opening remarks were provided by Steve Lewarne, Secretary and CEO of the KPU Foundation followed by Stephanie Howes, Dean of the KPU School of Business.
Carl Markwart provided greetings on behalf of the profession and said, “The Chapter has pledged $10,000 towards the David Sale Endowment Fund which will support a perpetual scholarship for a deserving accounting student attending KPU who has the intent to pursue the Chartered Professional Accountant program.”
Carl and Kathy presented the donation to KPU Foundation on behalf of chapter members.
David Sale FCPA FCGA, who passed away on September 25, 2017, was a long term faculty member at KPU and a leader in the profession serving as board chair for the legacy CGA-BC Association and co-chair of the CPABC Joint Venture. The endowment fund honours David’s tremendous contributions to academia and the profession.
A plaque to honour David Sale was presented by Laura Dallas, long time work colleague and friend, which will be displayed in the accounting department at KPU Surrey Campus.
