On Friday, May 6, 2016, 15 SLND CPABC members attended the annual “Breakfast with the Bank” fundraiser for the Surrey Food Bank (SFB). Other participants included politicians, businesses, and community leaders.
This fundraiser is an important event for the SFB as funding comes directly from the community. The food bank does not receive any core government funding. This year, we raised an amazing $350,000 in just one hour!
This year’s theme was “Making an IMPACT.” It is the passionate volunteers, staff and community supporters that enable the SFB to serve low income families in our community. As of 2016, the Surrey Food Bank has four locations that provide for over 14,000 clients each month and handles over four million pounds of food annually. Did you also know that 41% of the clients are under the age of 18?
We would like to thank these CPABC members for waking up early and supporting this great program. See you at our next PD seminar or social event!
