Please join us for a buffet dinner and an evening of networking with students and members from your local Chapter! Members are encouraged to attend and share their experiences. There will also be door prizes and lots of opportunities to ask questions relating to the practical experience requirement of the CPA program. You will have an opportunity to learn from our guest speakers about their career paths, about trends in the marketplace and tips on how to get hired, as well as information about the practical experience requirements in the CPA program. This is sure to be an informational and enjoyable evening.
CPABC Surrey/Langley/North Delta Chapter invites CPA Students and KPU Accounting and Finance Students in the Lower Mainland to attend our Chapter’s Student Night Event. Come meet our panel of guest speakers from industry, public practice, and government. In addition, CPABC will give a short presentation and answer any questions about the CPA PEP program.

Speaker #1: Tom Senft, MBA, CPA CGA, JD Sweid Foods Ltd.
Tom is currently sits on the CPABC Board of Directors. Tom was appointed to this position in June 2015, upon proclamation of the CPABC Act. He is also Board Liaison Governor for the CPABC Surrey/Langley/North Delta Chapter, previously Chapter Chair in 2011 & 2012, and has served in various roles in the Chapter since 2007. Tom received his CGA designation in 1997, an MBA in 2009, and was honored with a JM MacBeth award of merit for service at the Chapter level in 2012. He is based in Langley and is Director of Finance with JD Sweid Foods, one of the largest further processors of poultry and beef products in Canada.
Speaker #2: Michael Zampogno, BBA, MNP LLP
Michael Zamprogno graduated from KPU’s BBA program in December 2015 and started with MNP in assurance a few weeks later in January of 2016. He is currently in the CPA PEP program and is on track to write the CFE in 2018.
Speaker #3: Ashleigh Brown, Regional Manager of Robert Half Canada
Ashleigh Brown is a regional Vice President for Robert Half in B.C. Ashleigh is currently responsible for the strategic direction of the finance, accounting and administrative service offerings within the Lower Mainland, and is thoroughly familiar with employment trends, professional job search strategies and skill sets in demand. She is also a media spokesperson for Robert Half, where she provides commentary on issues related to industry trends and career management. She has been featured in the Canadian HR Reporter, Business in Vancouver, and other media outlets across the country. Under her direction, Robert Half has achieved great success in establishing itself as a leading provider of highly skilled professionals in Surrey and the Lower Mainland.

Speaker #4: Kelly Boxma, CPA, Senior Accountant , MNP LLP
Kelly Boxma graduated from KPU in December 2013 with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting. While obtaining her degree she completed a 4 month co-op at MNP LLP. Since graduating she went on to obtain her Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation while articling with MNP LLP, where she now works as a Senior Accountant.
Speaker #5: Harp Bagri, CPA CA
Harp Bagri, CPA, CA is the Director, Outreach at the CPA Western School of Business. He is responsible for developing and leading initiatives that educate key stakeholder audiences (employers, students and candidates) and solicit their feedback on the CPA program in general and education delivery specifically with an aim to improve program delivery and maintain stakeholder satisfaction.
Speaker #6: Carol Stewart CPA, CA, MTS, BBA, Kwantlen Polytechnic University
Carol Stewart is faculty for the School of Business at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU). Carol is an advocate for student success and is a dedicated member of the Accounting faculty. She is devoted to helping students acquire a CPA designation. Working closely with the student accounting club, the ASK, as well as Co-operative Education and Career Services, Carol helps students discover where a career in accounting can take them. She is a CPA mentor to aspiring CPA candidates and a liaison to KPU Alumni. Carol is the recipient of a KPU Distinguished Service Award and an initiator of annual events like Careers in Accounting and the Welcome Party for International Business Students. She is an elected KPU Senator and member of the Senate University Budget Committee.
KPU services over 18,000 students with a large enrollment in the School of Business. Courses are offered at Richmond, Surrey, and Langley campuses. Over thirty fully qualified CPAs teach accounting courses to business students. Over 2,000 students are enrolled in accounting degree and diploma programs. In September 2017, KPU will be launching a Post-Bacc Diploma in Accounting at their new Surrey Central location.
