Recap: 2019 MET in Richmond BC

The CPABC Member Engagement Tour (MET) made its annual stop in Richmond on November 25, 2019.

The local chapter hosted approximately 110 members for a buffet dinner event at the Executive Hotel & Resort in Richmond. There, attendees heard about the latest labour market research for accountants, connected with the other CPAs and celebrated member milestones.

Opening remarks were made by Amy Houang CPA CGA, chair of the CPABC Richmond/South Delta Chapter.

The MET presentation was delivered by Amy Lam, FCPA, FCA, Executive Vice President, Corporate Services and CFO, and Kerri Wilcox, CPABC’s Vice-President, External Relations and Communications.

The presenters provided an update on the CPABC and BC government study examining the labour market, changing market expectations and the skills needed to succeed now and into the future.  They also discussed the impact of technology on the accounting profession and the progress being made by CPA Canada on the Foresight project.

In addition to the presentation, another highlight of the evening was the recognition of members who were celebrated for attaining important member milestones. Among them were Robert Johnson CPA, CA, who marked 60 years of membership, Jim Morrison CPA, CGA and Mel Young CPA, CA who marked their 50 years of membership.
