The Communication Committee is responsible for promoting events and connecting with local CPA members, students and candidates through regular email communication and using different social media platforms. The committee also maintains the events registration page for all chapter events.
Angel Chan, CPA, CA
After completing her CPA, CA designation, Angel looked for opportunities to utilize her accounting skills to give back to the community. Her first board of director experience was with the Kerrisdale Community Center where she took on the role of Treasurer. She significantly helped improve the Center’s budget forecasting and financial reporting cycle. After Angel completed her term with Kerrisdale, she contacted a friend who was previously sitting on the board of CPABC’s Richmond/South Delta Chapter and learned that the Chapter was recruiting new board members.
Angel previously volunteered with the chapter at various social events and decided that a director role was suitable as a next challenge! As a Communication Committee director, Angel enjoys the interaction opportunities with other CPA members, students and candidates via social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. She also acts as a social media ambassador at Chapter events to help educate members on how to connect with and find out more about the Chapter on a daily basis using social media. She is looking forward to connecting with more CPA members, students and candidates in the months to come!
Christina Ye, CPA Candidate
Christina Ye joined CPABC Richmond/South Delta Chapter’s communication committee in 2017. Volunteering with the Chapter exposed Christina to many opportunities that would be hard to get anywhere else. Some of her favourite chapter events over the past year include the golf tournament, volunteering at the Richmond Hospital Foundation Gala and the chapter’s first holiday social in 2017.
She was inspired by the passion and dedication of each team member on the chapter board.
Christina continuously develops her interpersonal and communication skills by working with other committees on the chapter board. Her goal for the future is to continue to communicate and promote events successfully from the Chapter to our CPA members, students and candidates!
Olive Wong, CPA, CGA
Olive enjoys serving the community and meeting new people from a very young age. She served as a first-aid responder with St. John’s Ambulance for 9 years. Olive is currently the President of the Vancouver Diamond Campus Lions Club where they organize fundraising events and community service events to help those in needs.
Olive first learned about the chapter at a student night networking event. When she was asked whether she would like to help out on the Chapter Board, she took the opportunity to further develop her knowledge in event planning and communication.
Olive loves meeting and working with people. She looks forward to bringing some new ideas to the Chapter and learning new skills that will help improve the communication between the Chapter and fellow CPA members, students and candidates.
