Please join CPABC Peace Region Chapter for a half-day seminar that will explore what is meant by cyber security – confidentiality, integrity and availability of data.

We will review various risk treatment options for dealing with information risk. We will also look at data classification, data ownership, the crown jewels, the importance of key security policies, and getting that biggest bang for the cyber security buck through security awareness and training.

In this seminar, we will also cover the importance of breaches and the type of business risks they can create, how they get detected and when. Finally, we will look at the importance of concepts like defense in depth, and the importance of incident response.

Speaker

Edward Pereira is the Principal Consultant of Carmel Info-Risk Consulting Group. His practice focuses on providing trusted advisory work for small to medium-sized organizations in the areas of cyber security and privacy, in particular, strategy, vulnerability management, threat and risk assessment, and security awareness & training.

Edward Pereira initiated the enterprise security functions at both Intrawest and Lululemon Athletica, and has spent the last 13 years in IT Security and IT Assurance primarily in the transportation & tourism, retail, and financial services sectors. A prior career in business planning & analysis and Internal Audit evolved into the IT field where he founded one of Canada’s first e-commerce businesses in 1998 – MeetUP.com.

Edward is a CPA, CGA and also holds the ISACA credentials – CISM, CISA, and CRISC, as well as the PMP project management designation.
