Okanagan College and the Okanagan College Foundation jointly hosted a donor appreciation reception at the Trades Complex Atrium at the college’s Kelowna campus on April 26, 2018.    The reception was a way to appreciate the generous support of the college’s mission by donors such as the CPABC Okanagan Chapter and CPA Education Foundation (CPAEF).

Kathy Butler, Okanagan College Foundation, said, “your ongoing commitment to enhancing learner success at Okanagan College has the power to change tomorrow, today.”

Chapter representatives Kyla Stewart CPA, chapter treasurer, and Arbeny Flint CPA, board member, attended the reception on behalf of the profession.  The CPABC Okanagan Chapter has been supporting accounting students at Okanagan College for several years with a cumulative donation total of $5,600.  Since 2015, six local students have benefited from this support.  Many more students benefited from support provided by the legacy organizations and educational foundations.

In addition, the CPAEF has matching awards with Crowe Mackay that supports two awards of $2,500 each.   And, through an endowment created by one of the legacy chapters, another $1,000 is awarded to an accounting student each year.  David Chiang, CPA CA, CPABC’s vice-president member advice and programs responded to Butler by saying, “we are delighted to continue our long history of support for Okanagan College accounting students and look forward to changing tomorrow, today, and  for many years to come.”
