CPA Canada Foresight: Re-Imagining the Profession was launched in the Fall 2018. In this session, receive an update from CPA Canada and continue to engage in imagining the future of the CPA profession.
The intent of the project was to identify and address issues of how CPAs will continue to add value in an environment of technological, geopolitical, environmental and economic changes. Specifically, the project:
- developed alternative plausible scenarios for the future of business and accounting in the information age, taking into consideration those factors about which we were reasonably confident will occur as well as those about which there is still much uncertainty;
- Identified future directions for the profession. The team considered the global and national regulatory implications for the CPA profession going forward in light of evolving stakeholder expectations, new business models and the role of other stakeholders; and
- Identified skill sets necessary for accountants to continue to add value to employers and clients, the new opportunities that may result and the expected demand for CPAs.
The project was driven by input from a number of key stakeholder including users, preparers, investors, regulators, auditors etc. through a series of roundtables.
