A record 140 CPABC members and their guests attended the annual CPABC Hockey Night event on January 27, 2020 to cheer on the home town favourite Canucks against St. Louis Blues who are the defending Stanley Cup champions.  Both teams are number one in their respective divisions so the game proved to be an exciting one from puck drop to final period.

The evening started with a chapter hosted pre-game reception at The Sportsbar LIVE! at Rogers Arena.   Members and their guests enjoyed appetizers and drinks as well as the opportunity to connect with other hockey fans.  There was a special guest in attendance – CPABC member William Winnett CPA CA.  Bill was an executive vice-president with the Canucks organization (known at the time as Northwest Sports Enterprises Ltd.) when the expansion team was launched 50 years ago in 1970.  Bill has remained a loyal fan ever since.

Door prizes were drawn which included gift cards and hockey collectibles including a Quinn Hughes (#43) jersey and an Elias Pettersson signed hockey stick.

After the reception, attendees headed to their lower bowl seats to enjoy the game.

The Blues took an early lead in the first period before the home team roared on to win 1-3.   J.T Miller (#9) scored two of the evenings goals for the Canucks with Horvat (#53) scoring the third goal.

Thank you members for attending and the chapter looks forward to seeing you at upcoming social networking and PD events.   The next regional sporting event will be the Vancouver Canadians baseball game in July hosted by the CPABC Vancouver Chapter.
