Are you willing to lend a hand to help seniors, newcomers to Canada, and low-income Canadians qualify for the various tax credits available?
Become a CVITP Volunteer:
For those on modest incomes, failing to file a tax return can mean missing out on much-needed money. You can help by participating in the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). It’s easy. Visit the CRA CVITP webpage and complete the application form to become a CVITP volunteer.
In 2019, almost 300 CPAs volunteered their professional skills by completing close to 12,800 tax returns for low-income Canadians at tax clinics organized by local community groups in the CVITP.
Attend an Information Session:
Want to find out more. You’re invited to a complimentary information session to learn more about providing volunteer tax services. CRA staff will be on hand to tell you about how easy it is to volunteer, past volunteers will share how fulfilling their experiences were and CPABC will provide information on the application for exemption from licensing (which includes coverage under the CPABC professional liability program).
Space is limited, so register early.
