Session 2: Ethical Dilemmas: The Thick Grey Line
This course provides participants with opportunities to evaluate ethical scenarios in a variety of contexts that are realistic and representative of the CPA demographic (including industry, not-for-profit, public sector and public practice).
Participants will increase their competence and confidence in interpreting and applying the CPA Code of Professional Conduct to real-life workplace challenges.
Who Should Attend:
This course will appeal to members who enjoy an actively engaging CPD setting using small group discussions and interactive polling to analyze real-life ethical scenarios.
The two-hour format will also appeal to members who choose to fulfill their ethics CPD requirement in smaller segments.
The course begins with a brief refresher of the CPA Code of Professional Conduct, followed by team-based evaluations of ethical scenarios and potential actions to determine where the line of acceptable behaviour is crossed. Small group discussions will be followed by larger group debriefs.
Prerequisite: Reasonable familiarity with the CPA Code of Professional Conduct (or a legacy Code) is expected; participants will benefit from having gone through a prior CPA ethics course, but it is certainly not mandatory.
Content is applicable to all professional roles and all levels of previous experience.
Length: 2 hours
