Tax Clinic Volunteers Needed.

The preparation of tax returns for members of the public requires a public practice license.  However, there is an exemption from licensure when a member is preparing tax returns in a volunteer tax clinic provided certain criteria are met (ie. taxpayer’s income below a certain threshold, no business income, investment income less than $1000, etc.).  A member who is not already licensed in public practice must apply for this exemption.  Click here to apply for the exemption.  Only members who apply for this exemption will be covered under a blanket professional liability insurance policy paid for by CPABC.

The preparation of tax returns at volunteer tax clinics is an excellent way for members to give back to the community.  Across BC,  many volunteer tax preparation clinics organized by local community groups are looking for CPA volunteers.  If you are interested in offering your services as a CPA volunteer, please visit the CRA website for more information.
