CPAs gathered in Cranbrook for the annual Member Engagement Tour event hosted by the CPABC East Kootenay Chapter to learn about the latest labour market research for accountants, connect with the local CPA network, and celebrate member milestones. A highlight for the event was the venue – a luncheon held at the Royal Alexander Hall.
Approximately 25 CPAs were in attendance, including CPABC East Kootenay Chapter Chair Cecil Stoochnoff CPA, CMA and Treasurer, Al Paetz CPA, CMA. After networking and lunch, two members of CPABC’s leadership team gave the afternoon’s presentation. President & CEO Lori Mathison FCPA, FCGA, and Board Chair Ben Sander FCPA, FCA, provided an update on the CPABC and BC government study examining the labour market and changing market expectations and the skills needed to succeed now and in the future. They also discussed the impact of technology on the accounting profession and the progress being made on the CPA Canada Foresight project.
An enthusiastic thank you to all of the volunteers who helped to organize the East Kootenay MET stop and to everyone who attended!
