CPAs gathered in Nelson for the Kootenay West Chapter Member Engagement Tour stop which took place at the Adventure Hotel. The event featured a presentation on the latest labour market research for CPAs, plus the chance for attendees to connect with their CPA network.
The tour stop was also a chance to celebrate member milestones – Bryan Carmichael, CPA, CGA, celebrated 25 years of membership and two members marked 50 years of membership – Robert Bateson, CPA, CGA, and Amed Naqvi, FCPA, FCA.
Approximately 35 CPAs were in attendance, including Chapter Chair Mitch Rinas, CPA, CGA, Vice Chair Richard Thomas, CPA, CGA, and Secretary Katarina Yule, CPA, CA.
After networking and dinner, a member of CPABC’s leadership team gave the afternoon’s presentation. Executive Vice President, Member and Student Experience Jan Sampson, FCPA, FCA, provided an update on the CPABC and BC government study examining the impact of technology on the accounting profession, as well as changing market expectations and the skills needed to succeed now and in the future.
An enthusiastic thank you to all of the volunteers who helped to organize the Kootenay West MET stop and to everyone who attended!
