Chapter PD Day
Join us on Friday, June 14th for our upcoming Chapter PD Day. The day will consist of three, two hour sessions and a hot lunch buffet. This is a great opportunity to earn PD hours. The cost of each session is $50 + GST and $20 + GST for the lunch buffet. Complementary lunch provided for those who attend all three sessions.

Budgeting & Financial Management: Understanding Budgeting & Variance Analysis – Presented by Mack Kanagan, BBA, CPA, CGA & David Hallinan, FCPA, FCMA

After an introduction and short overview, this session will look at delivering business and financial performance for your organization and operating units. Interpret and monitor financial measures throughout the financial budget process and look at developing budgets and the importance of budget within organizations. We’ll also take a look at interpreting variances, analyzing finds and using business cases to help forecast the budget controllable and uncontrollable deliverables.
Session 2: There are two options to choose from.
Option 1: Creating a Financial Dashboard in Excel: Getting Value from Data – Presented by Bernie Warren

To extract the benefits of raw data, it must be refined into content that supports management reporting and other strategic business objectives. In this workshop you will learn how to extract data from various sources, how to “clean” the data, organize the data, select appropriate visuals and how to combine these visuals into a dashboard that tells a story. Various intermediate to advanced Excel tools will be used such as Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, Slicers, Grouping Tools, Sparklines, Data Models, Solver and Excel’s new Forecasting Sheet.

Option 2: Handbook/Standards Update – Presented by KPMG
Held in International Building (IB), Room 1020
This session will focus on Non-For-Profit, PSAB and ASPE standards that have changed in the past two years and upcoming changes. It will also touch on items of note related to Audit and IFRS.
