The MNP Canada Games Torch Relay was in the Fraser Valley on November 27, 2018 with celebratory stops in Abbotsford and Chilliwack.

The torch relay is a significant element of the Canada Games and has united communities across the nation for the past 51 years.  The relay officially started in Ottawa from the Centennial Flame on Parliament Hill in the fall of 2018 and will visit over 40 communities across Canada before arriving in Red Deer for the Opening Ceremony of the 2019 Games.

Ryan Calder CPA CA, a partner in the MNP Abbotsford office, along with His Worship Mayor Henry Braun and David Chiang CPA CA, CPABC’s Vice-President of Member Advice & Programs, were on hand to celebrate the torch passing through the Fraser Valley.

Ryan Calder CPA CA, MNP Partner, welcomes guests to the Celebratory Event.

Guests attending these celebratory events also had the chance to meet Waskasoo – the 2019 Games Mascot.  The mascot’s name comes from the Cree word for what is known as Red Deer River.
