The local chapters of the Chartered Professional Accountants of BC (CPABC) and the Financial Management Institute (FMI) invite you to the 17th annual Joint Professional Development Workshop. This year’s theme is “Beyond the Crash: Waiting for the Upswing? Managing Uncertainty in Uncertain Times”. Everyone was impacted by the Market Crash in 2008. And everyone has been waiting for the economy to recover.
With interest rates at all time lows, stagnant growth and an inability to use monetary policy to kick start the recovery without creating uncontrollable inflation, people are wondering – What’s next? How can we recover or is it even possible to recover? What is the role of government in that recovery? Topics for presentation and discussion include balancing the economy and environment, trade, alternative revenue sources, emerging technology plus sessions on leadership, coaching and everyone’s favorite, accounting!
This year we are pleased to have Victoria Mayor Lisa Helps as our keynote speaker to kickoff our conference!
4:30 – 7:00 p.m. Craft Beer Tasting and Networking Reception at The Guild
Join us for an entertaining beer tasting and reception at the historic Guild Freehouse to socialize and network with your fellow conference delegates.
We’ll hear from beer enthusiast Karen Kuzyk, co-owner of Category 12 Brewing in Saanichton, as she shares their story about the risks and rewards of launching a craft brewery. Our reception sponsor, MNP, has also organized a fun Beer Match Challenge, which will feature a chance to win a craft brewery tour for two from Vancouver Island Expeditions and other beer-inspired prizes.
The cost to attend is $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Mustard Seed Food Bank. The cost includes appetizers and one drink ticket per person, while MNP is also sponsoring the beer tasting with four hand-picked brews from Category 12.
